Speed up probe on complaints against Pribumi, RoS told

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) members want the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to speed up its probe into their complaints against the party.

The Youth members vowed to protest outside the RoS headquarters should it fail to act on the complaints within two weeks.

Former Youth exco leader Muhammad Hafiz Azhar questioned why the RoS had been dragging its feet on the complaints lodged since October.

The members claimed Pribumi had breached its party constitution when it conducted its annual general meeting and set up a wing not recognised by the constitution.

“It has been so long, yet no action has been taken against Pribumi.

“We urge the RoS to investigate within two weeks or we will hold a protest,” Muhammad Hafiz told reporters here yesterday.

Another former Youth exco leader, Mohamad Taufik Abas, also refuted claims by Pribumi chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that there were concerted efforts within the party’s ranks to sabotage Pakatan Harapan’s registration.

“Dr Mahathir himself wrote the party’s constitution, so who is he trying to fool?

“We have had enough with his tricks and manipulation of issues,” he said, questioning how Dr Mahathir would have known the details of the reports lodged with the RoS.

On Tuesday, Dr Mahathir had said he was baffled by how some 400 people had lodged complaints using the same words to the RoS.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had also said the ROS was investigating 47 complaints against Pribumi.
