SUNGAI PETANI: Two men were sentenced to a total of 16 days’ jail and fined RM4,000 each by the magistrate’s court here after they pleaded guilty to four separate charges of causing hurt to several people during a Thaipusam celebration early this month.
Magistrate Mohamad Fared Abd Latif handed down the sentence on V. Indran and S. Pubalan, both 25, yesterday.
They were sentenced to four days’ jail and RM1,000 fine, in default two months’ jail, on each charge, to be served concurrently from Feb 1, the date of their arrest.
Indran and Pubalan, who are friends, were jointly charged with causing hurt to N. Murugan, 58, D. Ranjeet, 37, R. Savinthra, 11 and S. Vasatha, 55, by hastily lighting firecrackers, hence endangering the life and personal safety of others in front of a restaurant in Jalan Kuala Ketil at 8.29pm on Feb 1. — Bernama
